Xbox 360 store close in July 2024, but gamers favourite games aren’t going anywhere

The Xbox 360 has officially announced its closing on 29th July 2024 but here is how gamers can continue to enjoy their favourite games.

XBOX is known as the console that connects gamers worldwide, it is reputed to be one of the most loved video gaming brands, and in a significant announcement, they have revealed that the XBOX 360 store will be closing after they mark their 18th anniversary. On July 29, 2024, Xbox will cease supporting the purchase of new games, DLC, and other entertainment content from the Xbox 360 Store and the Xbox 360 Marketplace (marketplace.xbox.com). Consequently, the Microsoft Movies & TV app will no longer function on Xbox 360, rendering TV and movie content unviewable on the console after this date. However, until then, users can continue purchasing games and DLC from these platforms.

The following are the features that one needs to know after the announcement by XBOX 360:

Continued Playability

Xbox 360 games and DLC that have already been purchased will remain playable. Players can continue enjoying these titles on their Xbox 360, as well as on Xbox One and Xbox Series XS devices via backward compatibility.

Multiplayer Support

Multiplayer games and cloud saves will still be accessible after July 2024, as long as the game’s publisher supports the online servers. This means players can continue to connect with friends and enjoy multiplayer experiences.

Backward Compatibility

The ability to purchase and play backwards-compatible Xbox 360 titles will not be impacted. These games will remain available for purchase on Xbox One, Xbox Series XS, and Xbox.com.

Enhanced Gameplay on New Consoles

For those playing Xbox 360 games on Xbox Series XS, enhancements such as FPS Boost, Auto HDR, and faster loading times will be available, offering an improved gaming experience.

Movies & TV Content

The Microsoft Movies & TV app will continue to be available on Windows devices running Windows 10 or later, Xbox One, and Xbox Series XS. Purchased content will remain accessible on these platforms and through Movies Anywhere.

Post the closure of the Xbox 360 Store, players will still have access to their already  purchased games and the ability to re-download them if deleted. As technology evolves and gaming expectations shift, Xbox is focusing on making Xbox Series XS the best place to play now and in the future.
