The Fourth of July brings plenty of parties, but few are as notorious as those thrown by Taylor Swift. But this year, Miss Americana and her famous girl squad didn’t gather at her Rhode Island mansion to sip wine and pose together in red, white, and blue bikinis on the front lawn.
In fact, Swift wasn’t even in the country to celebrate its Independence Day. The singer is still overseas for the European leg of her sold-out international Eras Tour, which has concerts scheduled in Amsterdam on July 4, 5, and 6. That said, Swift may have still celebrated the holiday with her boyfriend Travis Kelce, who was recently in town to support her shows in London.
Last year, the pop star revived her iconic Independence Day party for the first time since 2016. Guests included all three Haim sisters and Selena Gomez, who posed for Polaroids as they drank wine, ate popsicles, and sang karaoke. Swift showed off a slideshow of photos from the day on Instagram, captioning the snaps, “Happy belated Independence Day from your local neighborhood independent girlies.” She then teased her next tour stop—because, yes, the Eras Tour has been happening for over a year—adding, “See you tonight Kansas Cityyy.”
Little did Swift know that as she went on to perform at Arrowhead Stadium, Kelce was in the crowd with a friendship bracelet that spelled out his phone number. And while he didn’t get to meet the pop star that night, he eventually got in touch after talking about her during his New Heights podcast. The rest is history.
