The Show Me Care Bags organization partners with the sixth annual small business expo – KBSI Fox 23 Cape Girardeau News
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The sixth annual small business expo took place today at the Cape Girardeau Osage center supporting the Show Me Care Bags organization.
A nonprofit organization looking to brighten the day of young cancer patients in local hospitals.
Jennifer Preston is the founder of Show Me Care Bags and she says the event brings the community together, “our events raise money for show me care bags and you know bring the community together so that we are able to provide each other with care bags to cancer patients.”
The organization Puts time and effort into each Show Me Care Bag that goes to a patient in need, Preston explains what’s inside of each bag.
“So within the Show Me Care Bags is a blanket, some puzzle books, markers, hand sanitizer, lotion, cap stick, and an encouraging card made by girl scouts or others within the organization. Along with that a volunteer within the organization Teresa Geggs creates personal seat belt pillows for each patient that gets a bag.
Cancer affects Teresa Geggs’ family and she is now a volunteer for the organization helping those currently affected by cancer.
“I also have been affected. My family has been affected with cancer and stuff, but it was a long time ago and I have known Jen for a number of years so when she started this it you know, I really wanted to do something to help.”
Geggs uses her craft skills, creating the seat belt pillows for each Show Me Care bag as her way of helping the cause.
Donating and helping their cause is easier than you think, especially if you live in Missouri Jennifer Preston explains how you and your family could help the Show Me Care Bags.
