Iman is carrying on her late husband David Bowie‘s legacy.
The legendary supermodel, 68, opened up about her and Bowie’s relationship in a new interview with InStyle, saying that she feels the musician is ever-present in her life.
“When people say ‘oh your late husband’ and I always correct them,” Iman told the outlet in a video published on Wednesday, June 12. “He is my husband. Not my late husband. He’s ever present with me. It’s because he has left an impact in my life. He was the perfect person for me and I’m happy that I was able to experience that in my lifetime. And I wish for everybody to have that one time in their life.”
When it comes to finding the “perfect person,” the Iman Cosmetics founder advised “not to ignore the small, loving gestures.”
“For example, my husband… the first week we met, we were walking down the street and my shoelaces came undone,” she recalled. “And he got to his knees and tied my shoelace. That is my perfect person. But let’s not ignore also the big gestures, like the perfect croc Birkin bag. I got both.”

“I have a necklace I’m wearing under here that has his name on it, [a] designer who is a friend of ours called Hedi Slimane sent me this and I’ve worn it since that first week after David passed away,” she shared. “Yeah, I think of him all the time.”
“There are days that are harder than others but the memories are not all sad of why the person isn’t here,” Iman reflected in a 2021 interview with PEOPLE. “The memories are now of how great it was.”
“Sometimes I have to remind myself that I had 26 years. So I have that to sustain me.”
“I definitely feel his presence, especially when I look out over the glorious sunsets at our home because David loves sunsets,” the model continued. “So in that way he is ever present.”
She added, “Through my memory, my love lives.”
