Star Fruit Books has announced the licensing of several new manga series and one-shots, which will be released in the latter half of 2024 and throughout 2025. The announcement was made on the indie manga publisher’s Twitter account during the weekend of this year’s San Diego Comic Con.
Star Fruit Books also revealed that it has secured four more licenses that will be announced after contracts are signed. It also licensed a “classic shojo manga” with over 600 pages, for which the contract has already been signed.
Here are the details of the new manga licenses:
New Series Licenses
8 Man Infinity
Story: Kyoichi Nanatsuki
Art: Takayuki Takashi
Original Story: Kazumasa Hirai
Original Art: Jiro Kuwata
A standalone series based on the classic action manga series 8 Man. Six volumes are scheduled for release in 2025.
Children, Don’t Play In The Dark
Story and Art: Sachiko Uguisu
The manga follows a brother and sister who have ESP powers. A single volume containing 288 pages will be released in 2025, which includes extra material not included in the 2016 Japanese re-release version.
Reality
Story and Art: Naruho Amino
A collection of horror short stories that were originally published in Weekly Young Jump from 1987 to 1988. It contains original stories based on Natsume Soseki‘s Ten Nights of Dreams and Izumi Kyoka‘s Kumano Hijiri. A single volume containing 258 pages will be released in 2025.
ESDRO’S Dreamy Draws
Art: ESDRO
A compilation book in collaboration with Star Fruit Books that is scheduled to release later in 2024. ESDRO is the 24th Ax Manga Newcomer award winner and the compilation book is a re-release of their original Yumemanga magazine.
Psyfer
Story and Art: Hiroshi Kato
A two volume shonen horror series that will be released in 2025. The manga was originally serialized in Shogakukan’s CoroCoro magazine in 1996.
New One-Shot Licenses
The Fantasy Ends Today
Story and Art: Mitsu Nakamaru
The manga will be released digitally at an undetermined date. It will contain 58 pages.
Synopsis:
There’s someone inside that church whose voice only I can hear. A fantasy set in Europe.
Ending Theme
Story and Art: OSHIMA Hirokazu
The 52 page one-shot manga will be released digitally at an undetermined date. A print release is expected by the end of 2024.
Synopsis:
The story of a secondhand bookstore that is about to close, and the interactions between the store owner and a customer.
Longears Above The Clouds
Story and Art: sasa
The two-part one-shot will be released digitally at an undetermined date and contains 63 pages. A print release is expected by the end of 2024.
Synopsis:
The story of a race of few individuals that lives on a mountaintop above the clouds.
Treime
Story and Art: Gamu-chan
The 52-page one-shot follows a vampire and vampire hunter. The manga will be released at an undetermined date, with a print release expected by the end of 2024.
