Animation studio NAZ has released the first official main trailer for upcoming original anime Special Kid Factory at an after party event coinciding with Anime Expo 2024. A premiere date for the anime was not revealed.
The event where the trailer was screened “Find Your Clone: Special Kid Factory Trailer Premiere Party” took place today at Tom’s Watch Bar in Los Angeles, California.
Atsushi Ikariya (Sabikui Bisco) is directing the original anime project, with novelist Otaro Maijo (The Dragon Dentist) as screenwriter, and manga artist Yuuki Kodama (ID: INVADED) as original character designer. Other staff include Ei Aoki (ID: INVADED director) as development supervisor, Daisuke Mataga (Sabikui Bisco) as assistant director, and Ai Asari (Sabikui Bisco co-character designer) as lead animator. NAZ is the animation production company, with Kasagi Labo providing production assistance.
Special Kid Factory marked NAZ’s 10th anniversary in operation when it was first announced in 2023. A manga adaptation will also be released later.
The anime’s official website describes the synopsis of Special Kid Factory:
The series begins with Genpei, an ordinary boy whose life is upended when a spaceship lands and he meets Denshiin—a boy who looks exactly like him. Denshiin reveals a shocking truth: he is the original human, and Genpei is his clone, created as part of a larger, sinister plan.
Mistaken for Denshiin, a seasoned detective, Genpei is swept into a thrilling journey across the galaxy to solve intricate murder mysteries. Their adventures unfold against the backdrop of a dystopian future with “Special Kids”.
Now, Genpei must choose his path: Will he remain a shadow of someone else or emerge as a hero in his own right, solving murder mysteries and fighting for justice in a universe filled with danger and deception?
