As previously reported, Amazon and Toei will produce the Oshi no Ko live-action. The former will distribute the series worldwide on Amazon Prime Video, while Toei will do the same for the movie’s release. While Oshi no Ko manga artist Mengo Yokoyari is not involved in the project due to other work commitments, author Aka Akasaka revealed his excitement about how the series will tackle the story. Toei producer and leading planner of the Oshi no Ko live-action, Ryusuke Imoto, added in a new statement that the project was developed over the last two years.

“Along with the excitement of producing it,” Imoto said, “I also feel that I am tormented by a terrible pressure that I will never be able to shake off. Just like the day I read the original work for the first time, I sometimes find myself fantasizing about being able to return to being a big fan of Oshi no Ko.” He continued, “We still don’t know how much our work will resonate with the world. I will try my best to reach as many people as possible. I hope it reaches everyone’s hearts. Lastly, I would like to thank all the important cast, staff, and people involved. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to you for walking together with me during a time of great anxiety and pressure.”
