The newest Suicide Squad Isekai anime has finally fixed the most disappointing character from the 2016 film. Suicide Squad Isekai has been a fun and unique new take on the iconic comic team. What’s most interesting about it is how it’s improving the 2016 David Ayer film with better-written characters and tighter editing. Now, with the anime debut of the film’s most disappointing character, Enchantress, she’s already making a good introduction for herself as the show’s perfect antagonist.
Episode 5 of Suicide Squad Isekai features the Squad returning from an ammo-retrieval mission following a vicious confrontation with a dragon. However, as they pass by the fortress held by the friends they made in prison, they notice that it’s been burned to rubble with the former prisoners nowhere in sight. Suddenly, they notice the culprit hovering above the destruction: Enchantress, alongside her assistant, the Thinker.
Sporting her comic-accurate green robe, her brief few seconds on-screen set a great tone for what’s coming as she establishes herself as Isekai‘s primary villain.

Enchantress Gives Off an Ominous and Terrifying Aura in Seconds
Enchantress ultimately proves just how perfect she is as the overarching antagonist in Suicide Squad Isekai with the brief time she’s given at the end of the fifth episode. The green embers burning around the camp are incredibly haunting, hinting that something far more powerful than the fantasy creatures the Squad has been fighting is at work. Then, when she finally appears, the green glow in her eyes matched with a neutral look of apathy is enough to make any viewer’s skin crawl.
This is the version of Enchantress that was missing from the DCEU film, and it’s fantastic to finally see her full potential at play.
While Enchantress was undeniably a powerful force in the 2016 Suicide Squad film, the execution behind her character left a lot to be desired. She came off as incredibly silly with her movements and lacked the feeling of a major threat despite her powerful ties to magic. Her costume designed for the film was an interesting choice as it gave her more of a witch-like vibe, but it doesn’t match just how horrific the anime version of the character comes across. This is the version of Enchantress that was missing from the DCEU film, and it’s fantastic to finally see her full potential at play.
Suicide Squad Isekai Gives Fans a Glimpse of How Powerful Enchantress Is
The Opening Theme Shows Her to Be a Powerful Force
What’s even cooler about Suicide Squad Isekai‘s buildup to Enchantress’ reveal is that the show has been foreshadowing what’s coming since the story began. The anime’s opening features shots of the villainess as she unleashes her power on the charging Squad, followed by a spell circle holding Harley in place and causing her to scream. Enchantress is clearly being built up as a powerful foe that the team will need to work together to beat. With Clayface mentioning that the fantastical elements of the new world amplify existing powers like his own, she’s undoubtedly going to be far tougher than any threat the Squad has fought before.
With the first season of the anime halfway over now, it will be exciting to see Enchantress carry out her plan and establish herself as a next-level threat. She’s far more powerful than she ever was in the DC universe, setting her up to be a villain with world-ending abilities. Best of all, this finally gives fans a chance to see a proper form of Enchantress after her disappointing movie debut, giving the Suicide Squad Isekai villain a chance to finally shine on the screen.
