Netflix has dismissed the idea of bundling with rival streamers, declaring it was already the “go-to destination” due to the depth, variety and quality of its content slate. A recent trend has seen other entertainment giants, such as Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery, bundle their streaming services in a move WBD head David Zaslav hailed as pivotal for programmers in the streaming wars.
As reported by Deadline, Netflix put any speculation to rest regarding a potential team-up with a rival streamer in a letter to investors. “We haven’t bundled Netflix solely with other streamers like Disney+ or Max because Netflix already operates as a go-to destination for entertainment thanks to the breadth and variety of our slate and superior product experience. This has driven industry-leading penetration, engagement, and retention for us, which limits the benefit to Netflix of bundling directly with other streamers.” The streamer revealed that it had added another 8 million subscribers, totaling 277 million worldwide.
