MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The Milwaukee Bucks announced Thursday it launched “Bucks Health and Wellness,” a new holistic medical program designed to prevent and combat obesity in underserved portions of Milwaukee.
The Bucks said the program reimagines the treatment and management of obesity by bringing preventative care to Milwaukee, a city where over 30% of adults are medically classified as obese. The program combines personalized medical care, exercise, and nutrition, and has been designed with expert advisors and the Bucks’ performance and sport nutrition departments.
The Bucks said participants of the program will receive a comprehensive initial assessment that includes strength testing and biometric analysis, weight loss medication, blood work and laboratory analysis, along with continued virtual and in-person follow-ups at the program’s clinic. Participants will also have access to a mobile app that offers a personalized meal plan and exercise program, as well as yoga and meditation videos.
The Bucks said the program requires a year-long commitment and dedication to program interventions, including mandatory attendance at initial weigh-in and all follow-up sessions. Eligible patients must be between the ages of 18-64, have a Body Mass Index of 30 or above, be non-diabetic, and meet specific income thresholds.
