Join Artists and Musicians for the June 28 Final Friday Art Walk

By Sara Penny, Cedar City Arts Council

Exceptional music is planned for the Final Friday Art Walk on June 28, from 5 to 8 p.m., coordinated by the Cedar City Arts Council. You are invited to join the artists and musicians for an evening celebrating Cedar City art. June features the Southern Utah Watercolor Society, which recently completed their first Plein Air Art Competition. Their exhibit is at the city offices. They are planning to have works in progress demonstrations during the Art Walk at the lawn at 100 West Center.
The Final Friday Art Walks are free public events on the last Friday of June through September. Artists have exhibits at the corner of Center and 100 West and along the sidewalk to the Johnson Center. The Art Walk extends from the Artisans Gallery to Stone Path and on to the Southern Utah Museum of Art, as well as across the street at Home on the Range and IG Winery.
The Sagebrush Fiber Artisans will be back with spinning and other fiber demonstrations. Artists are welcome to put their tables of work at the lawn at the corner of 100 West Center. There is no vendor fee, but please leave room for the musicians. This is a family friendly public event. You can bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy music on the grassy area with Coyote Bluegrass, Roice Nelson, and A Walk to Somewhere.
The Laughing Larks flute ensemble will be at Stone Path along with artist Joey Favino. Clark Leslie plays violin in the Orchestra of Southern Utah, but he also has a wonderful tribute set of vocal and guitar for Gordon Lightfoot for the SUMA Plaza. Peter Buis will be playing guitar at IG Winery.
The Johnson Center is adding an outdoor concert at 59 North 100 West at 6 p.m. Performers will be Aquamarine and Tiana Green. Check Johnson Center social media for updates on the Friday concerts.
Home on the Range at 97 West Center features the Nielson Family in concert from 7 to 8 p.m.
The Cedar City Arts Council will have free art supplies for students at their information table. The CCAC is funded through memberships, the Recreation, Arts, and Parks fund, Utah Division of Arts and Museums, and generous donors.
“Thanks to everyone who participates,” said Roger Gold, CCAC President. Art walks continue on the last Friday through September. Come and enjoy the art exhibits and live music on Friday, June 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. For more information: [email protected]
