IMPD: Pedestrian dies in fatal crash on US 31 near border with Greenwood – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A pedestrian died in a fatal crash on Tuesday night on U.S. 31 near the border with Greenwood, Indianapolis police say.

The driver remained at the crash scene, where the pedestrian died. Neither the driver or the pedestrian have been publicly identified.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was sent shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a fatal crash in the 8900 block of U.S. 31 South. That’s on the far south side of Indianapolis in an area with retailers and restaurants just north of Greenwood Park Mall.

IMPD said in an update issued shortly before midnight Tuesday, “Investigators believe a pedestrian was crossing the street not at a crosswalk or intersection when a vehicle going northbound struck him.”
