This Sunday is Father’s Day – a day to honor the 72 million fathers across the U.S.
Dads often get short shrift, compared to all the attention given Mother’s Day. While President Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day became a national holiday in 1914, it wasn’t until 1972 when President Richard Nixon made Father’s Day official on the third Sunday in June, according to History.com.
Nearly two-thirds of consumers (65%) plan to celebrate Father’s Day, with giving Dad a gift among the top plans (43%) of the more than 1,000 surveyed by research firm Numerator in April 2024.
Other plans, according to the survey: gathering with family and friends (41%), grilling or barbequing (36%), cooking or baking at home (29%), and going out to eat (28%).

Hooters offers Father’s Day deal for HootClub Rewards members
All Father’s Day weekend, HootClub Rewards members can buy 10 wings any style and get 10 wings for free, the company told USA TODAY.
Additionally, from now through Sunday, June 16, customers who purchase a $25 Hooters gift card will get $5 in Dad’s Bonus Bucks, redeemable until July 17.
Krispy Kreme unveils new doughnut collection for Father’s Day
Krispy Kreme announced Tuesday an all-new doughnut collection celebrating dads will be available at participating shops throughout the country from Friday, June 14 through Sunday, June 16.
The collection includes two new flavors:
- Blue & White Drizzle: An Original Glazed doughnut dipped in white icing and drizzled with blue and chocolate flavored icings
- Chocolate Iced Bowtie: An Original Glazed doughnut dipped in chocolate icing and decorated with a blue icing bowtie
Additionally, as part of their Father’s Day celebration, Krispy Kreme is offering free delivery with a $5 minimum purchase at participating shops from June 14-16.
Applebee’s
When you buy a $50 Applebee’s gift card for Dad you get a $10 bonus card for a total of $60 when purchasing through Applebees.com. You can also partake of the restaurant chain’s limited-time Late Night Half Price appetizers including boneless wings and Chicken Wonton Tacos. Carrabba’s Italian Grill celebrates dads with limited-time menu
Carrabba’s is honoring fathers this year with a limited-time menu “fit for a king” available June 6 through 16.
The menu includes a a cocktail and one appetizer, entrée and dessert, the company told USA TODAY. Here’s what the menu features:
- Cocktail: Italian Old Fashioned – Maker’s Mark bourbon, Disaronna amaretto, fresh orange and a Bordeaux cherry.
- Appetizer: Spicy Palermo Wings – Crispy wings tossed in a spicy, smoky butter sauce topped with crumbled gorgonzola cheese, green onions and a side of gorgonzola cheese sauce for dipping.
- Entrée: Tuscan-grilled Ribeye with Bourbon Butter – A 16-oz. Tuscan-grilled ribeye prepared with Carrabba’s signature Mr. C’s Grill Baste, olive oil and herbs topped with sweet bourbon-infused and salted caramel browned butter. Served with rosemary roasted potatoes and sautéed broccoli.
- Dessert: Sogno Di Cioccolata “Chocolate Dream” – A rich fudge brownie with chocolate mousse, fresh whipped cream and chocolate sauce.
Denny’s offers free delivery on Father’s Day weekend
From June 14-16, Denny’s customers can receive free delivery on all orders of $8 or more placed through dennys.com, the company told USA TODAY.
The promotion cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts, the company said, and the discount will automatically apply to all delivery orders over $8 during this time frame.
Marco’s Pizza offers Mega Meal Deal in honor of Father’s Day
From June 10-16, Marco’s Pizza is offering a Mega Meal Deal that includes a large one-topping pizza, CheezyBread and fresh-baked Cinnasquares for $19.99 using code MEGAMEAL.
Additionally, the company will be offering 10% off the purchase of e-gift cards during the same timeframe.
Potbelly offers BOGO deal on cookies for Father’s Day
From June 10-16, Potbelly is offering Perks Members an additional fresh baked cookie with the purchase of any cookie.
Customers can choose between cookies such as the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie, sugar cookie and limited-time cherry delight cookie, among others, for the promotion.
Cheesecake Factory offers gift card deal for dads, grads and teachers
For every $100 in gift cards purchased online in a single transaction, the Cheesecake Factory is offering customers a complimentary $20 bonus card redeemable from June 29 through July 26.
Gift cards and bonus cards can be redeemed when dining in or ordering pickup or curbside to-go online at cheesecakefactory.com.
Dave & Buster’s hosts ‘Dad Games’ on Father’s Day
New and existing members of the D&B Rewards loyalty program get $2 Beers and 50% off all food on Sunday, June 16. Your family can also sign up to compete in “The Dad Games” described as “an epic arcade showdown,” on the Dave & Buster’s website, with a chance to win free Dave & Buster’s for a year.
