Fairfax County Public Schools will now review school boundaries every five years under a policy approved at a recent school board meeting. The policy, which has garnered opposition from some community members, does not directly change school boundaries in the division, but sets the stage for the school board to do so.
The boundary policy conversation has been happening for years. Board members have said they wanted to see how boundary reviews could help tackle issues such as overcrowding and transportation — as well as look for ways to ensure equitable access to opportunities across the district.
