Crunchyroll is about to make a big splash at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con in California. The massively popular anime streaming service is ushering in a brand-new makeover of its brand and service, with more yet in store.
Crunchyroll revealed its bold new look via a press release and new promotional video on its official YouTube account. According to the anime streaming giant, “the new look, feel, and sound of Crunchyroll reflects the joy that anime brings fans worldwide and is focused on an ethos of fun and celebration.” The official rollout of the new and improved Crunchyroll is set for July 25, coinciding with San Diego Comic-Con 2024. The four-day event will take place at the San Diego Convention Center in California.

Crunchyroll Debuts Its New Look Ahead of This Year’s SDCC
Below is a rundown of the upcoming changes planned for Crunchyroll. These changes will soon be reflected in the Crunchyroll app and desktop browser.
- A modernized logo with a balanced eye symbol and revamped watermark.
- A new font set called Crunchyroll Atyp, blending classic and modern elements for improved readability.
- A vibrant color system featuring orange, black, white and taupe.
- The new glyph system–over 139 anime and manga-inspired characters, adding depth and personality.
- A new seven-second audio-visual mnemonic to capture the immersive Crunchyroll experience with anime-inspired sound design and playful elements.
- Collaborations with Japanese artists on new textures and patterns to further enhance the brand’s authenticity and immersive storytelling.
The new Crunchyroll look will be prominently displayed at the Rady Shell concert venue, where J-pop artist LiSA and singer, songwriter and DJ, Alice Longyu Gao, will perform for the Crunchyroll Concert Series. Crunchyroll is also collaborating with Toei Animation for the One Piece 25th Anniversary: Symphonic Voyage performance for the special concert event. Of course, the new Crunchyroll look will also be all over San Diego Comic-Con, with limited-edition merchandise designed by 2024 CFDA Fashion Fund finalist Sebastian Ami.
