Cocteau Twins co-founder Robin Guthrie has shared new EP ‘Atlas’.
The musician, songwriter, and producer returned in 2021 with ‘Pearldiving’, a release that closed off a nine-year hiatus. That release seemed to spur him into life, with three EP – ‘Mockingbird Love’, ‘Riviera’ and ‘Springtime’ – following in quick succession.
New EP ‘Atlas’ is his first since that burst, and it was prompted by a period of travel. A four-track document, the audio landscapes display his painterly touch, while the EP as a whole contains a distinctly narrative-led feel.
He shares…
I got travelling again after the pandemic and that’s always a source of inspiration for me. I absorb a lot and get most creative when I have travelled. As for the title ‘Atlas’, I found an old radio and was struck with how many of the places on the dial no longer existed. I was attracted to the romantic notion that these places were very far away, not only in distance but now in time as well. The world seems a smaller and more familiar place nowadays”.
Tune in now.
