Bruce Springsteen is Now a Billionaire, According to Forbes

Forbes says Bruce Springsteen is now worth over $1.1 billion, due in no small part to the $500 million sale of his catalog to Sony Music back in 2021.

Bruce Springsteen has been “Dancing in the Dark” for decades as a household name, and now he’s danced right past the billionaire threshold, according to a new estimate of his net worth from Forbes. The Boss sold his music catalog to Sony Music in 2021 for an estimated $500-$550 million deal — the biggest transaction ever for a single artist’s body of work, knocking Bob Dylan’s $300 million sale to Universal Music out of the water. Further, the singer sold around 1.6 million concert tickets in 2023 alone, according to data from Pollstar, raking in over $380 million in revenue.

It comes as no surprise that Bruce Springsteen is one of the bestselling music artists of all time. He has sold over 71 million albums in the US and 140 million worldwide. With 20 Grammy Awards under his belt, as well as an Oscar and Tony Award for “Springsteen on Broadway,” his critically acclaimed one-man show, Springsteen continues to be a force to be reckoned with.

His debut album in 1973 sparked the fire that would make him a hero of the working class man, with lyrics about the trials of daily life. The New Jersey native, who has sung about everything from adolescence and love to getting the heck out of New Jersey, has enjoyed countless hits, like “Born to Run,” “I’m On Fire,” “Dancing in the Dark,” “Born in the USA,” “Glory Days,” “Hungry Heart,” and “Thunder Road.”

With the E Street Band, Springsteen is still touring the world and performing concerts with a runtime of over three hours. His April 6 show in Los Angeles had been postponed back in 2023 due to his illness, but even that show had a 200-minute runtime, “40 minutes longer than most other sets of his lately, all of which already test and transcend what a guy in his early 70s who recent recovered from illness ought to be pulling off,” according to Variety.
