The region of Oceania has found its representative Bonkers, winner of the Valorant Challengers League (VCL) 2023 Oceania Split 2, for the upcoming VCT 2023 Ascension Pacific which is scheduled to take place from 28th June to 9th July.
Bonkers was a force to reckon with showcasing complete dominance in the regional circuit by going 6-1 during the regular season followed by a 3-1 run in the playoffs. The team lost only five maps in total across the entire tournament, resulting in a respectable map win rate of 80%.
Even the best-of-five grand final series against NerdPunt did not live up to the mark as Bonkers handed them a straight 3-0 whitewash to walk away as the undisputed champions.
Bonkers has been crowned as the champion of VCL 2023 Oceania Split 2
Oceania has found a worthy representative in Bonkers who has successfully won both the regional tournaments, VCL 2023 Oceania Split 1 under the banner of 95X Esports and VCL 2023 Oceania Split 2 as Bonkers, due to the organization disbanding the team.
Bonkers started its journey from the open qualifiers of the VCL 2023 Oceania Split 1. The team was not an instant hit, finishing the regular season with a modest 5-2 scoreline. However, things changed during the playoffs where it went on a hot four-match streak to win the tournament without dropping a single map until the grand final.
The team became an overnight sensation and shouldered a significant responsibility going into the VCL 2023 Oceania Split 2, but nothing got to their heads and they went on to deliver the performance of a lifetime.
In the grand final, Bonkers got its revenge by handing NerdPunt a clean 3-0 defeat, after having lost to them in the upper bracket final.
