BELLEFONTE — The Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association is doing its best to make Bellefonte more interesting. One way to help the small, charming town emulate a big city is by populating downtown streets with busking musicians.
Since foot traffic in Bellefonte can’t compare with that found in the Big Apple, Philadelphia, or Pittsburgh, a subsidy is required and BHCA has supplied it.
On Friday, June 28 from 5 to 7 pm, BHCA is hiring two individual musicians and one duo to perform downtown.
They are Elijah Snyder, an up-and-coming saxophone phenomenon; The Stevedores, a duo consisting of Steven Buckalew (mandolin and fiddle) and Steve Crawford (guitar); and Ken Baxter (vocals and guitar).
BHCA has created a musical trifecta this coming Friday for people ambling around town. You will find all this free music along South Allegheny Street between High and Bishop streets.
Downtown Bellefonte Inc. is also providing a musician on Friday afternoon near the new mural in the Spring Street parking lot.
Where else in Centre County can you hear four music acts in an hour by just walking around? Come wander down Allegheny Street this Friday and bring some folding money to encourage our buskers.
