The latest Transformers toy line has featured both iconic and more obscure characters from the franchise’s history. Now, an anime-exclusive combiner roars back from the edge of extinction.
Revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 and reported on via TFW2005, the new Transformers Legacy United: Dinobot Dinoking Multipack is a deepcut that will have fans reaching for their wallets. Combining six mighty Decepticon warriors, this underrated team finally gets a chance to shine on international toy aisles. The same is likewise the case for a similar Autobot rival, who’s also a part of the Transformers: Legacy line.

A preview for an upcoming Japanese Transformers action figure promises a remix of an existing Bumblebee toy with a shiny new color scheme.
The Goofiest Combiner Joins the Transformers: Legacy Line
The new Dinobot Dinoking Multipack features six Decepticons — Yokuryu, Rairyu, Goryu, Doryu, Gairyu and Kakuryu — who transform from dinosaurs into robots and can also combine into the mighty Dinoking. These figures are repaints of the Core Class Dinobots that were also from the Transformers: Legacy United toy line. The Dinoforce (who form Dinoking) come with their own exclusive weapons, which can be merged in their united form. Although a release window has not yet been confirmed, the set will retail for US$79.99.
The Dinoforce debuted in the anime series Transformers: Victory — the last full-fledged anime in the Generation 1 continuity. It featured a lighter tone compared to Transformers: Super-God Masterforce, with the Decepticons — namely, the comical Dinoforce — being a source of humor. Despite this, their combined form was still a worthy opponent for the Autobots. The original Dinoforce toys were repaints of the “inner robots” of the Pretenders Monsters from the Western Transformers toy lines, with the characters given original dinosaur Pretender shells. Their new toys’ beast modes correlate to those shells, updating the characters while displaying them in a retro-style box that evokes Transformers: Victory.

Transformers: Legacy Uses Several Anime-Exclusive Characters
The Japanese Generation 1 Transformers toy line continued beyond the ending of the equivalent line in the U.S. and featured numerous exclusive toys based on the corresponding anime shows. These became veritable holy grails, particularly Autobots such as Metalhawk (who’s also receiving a toy in the Legacy line), God Ginrai and Star Saber. The same was the case for the Decepticons, with Deathsaurus and Overlord well-known for being collector’s items. Transformers: Legacy has been able to bring in characters from various Transformers anime, namely from the Japanese-exclusive G1 and Beast Wars anime.
Besides Metalhawk, these figures include Tasmania Kid from Beast Wars II: Super-Lifeform Transformers and now, the Dinoforce. Likewise, characters from the Unicron Trilogy have received several toys, especially from the series Transformers: Armada. More than ever, fans are able to experience nostalgia for these now-classic entries in the franchise, some of which were never released internationally. With Transformers turning 40 years old in 2024, it makes sense that the stalwart brand would be represented by a prehistoric threat.
