First trailer for Rachel Zegler’s new Netflix movie

Spellbound, the new Netflix film starring Rachel Zegler, has released its first trailer.

The animation follows Princess Ellian (Zegler) as she attempts to save the magical world of Lumbria after a spell has broken the kingdom in two.

Ahead of the film’s release in November, Netflix has now released the first footage from the project, showcasing the magical world of Lumbria in all its glory.

The trailer begins with Ellian explaining the quandary she’s facing, with her parents – Queen Ellsmere (Nicole Kidman) and King Solon (Javier Bardem) – in a pickle after a spell turned them into monsters.

From there, Ellian faces a race against time as she attempts to break the spell before it becomes permanent, all whilst appeasing the members of her kingdom who don’t take too kindly to monsters.

The journey seems to be littered with all kinds of magical elements, ranging from floating trees to beautiful lakes – but Ellian won’t get everything her own way as time and her enemies chase her.

In addition to Zegler, Kidman and Bardem, the stacked cast also includes John Lithgow, Jenifer Lewis, Nathan Lane, André De Shields, Jordan Fisher and Tituss Burgess. Vicky Jenson, best known for Shrek and Shark Tale, is directing the film, with former Pixar boss John Lasseter serving as a producer.

Zegler, who has starred in West Side Story and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, recently exited a major project in the shape of Paddington 3, with the star explaining that the SAG-AFTRA strike scuppered her plans.

“I was a part of Paddington 3, but I’m not anymore because of the SAG strike,” she said. “They were able to continue filming, but I was the only SAG actor, and another talented actress is doing it. I’m very excited to see it because it was a wonderful script and I think Paddington fans are going to be very thrilled.”

Spellbound will be released on Netflix on November 22.
