Ministry to support public communication during Asia-Africa forums

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) Ministry has affirmed its commitment to supporting public communication, including by setting up a media center, when Indonesia hosts the 2nd Asia-Africa Forum and 2024 High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholders Partnership.

Director general of information and public communication at the ministry, Usman Kansong, said that the two events, which are scheduled to be held in Bali from September 1–3, 2024, constitute high-level conferences and will be attended by President Joko Widodo and his counterparts, including from African countries.

“The High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholders Partnership is an event that will be held simultaneously with the Indonesia-Africa Forum,” he said in a statement received from the Kominfo Ministry on Monday.

Kansong highlighted Indonesia’s success in organizing the first edition of the Indonesia-Africa Forum in 2018, while noting that this year’s edition will serve as a crucial momentum for Asian and African nations ahead of the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference in 2025.

He noted that the two international events will also draw participation from representatives of the private sector as well as regional governments and provide them with an opportunity to forge collaboration with the participating officials of national governments.

“Hopefully, we will witness the signing of memoranda of understanding on the establishment of economic cooperation between governments, governments and businesses, or business and business,” he said.

Kansong invited domestic and foreign news outlets to come and cover the two Asia-Africa forums.

“We will convey more details next week during a press briefing,” he said.

The 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum will take place at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center with the theme of “Bandung Spirit for Africa’s Agenda 2063.”

Meanwhile, the 2024 High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholders Partnership, themed “Strengthening Multi-Stakeholder Partnership for Development toward a Transformation Change” will be held at Mulia Hotel.
