Europe Hopes for Harris as Potential Trump Presidency Looms

Welcome to the Brussels Edition, Bloomberg’s daily briefing on what matters most in the heart of the European Union.

Europe is grappling with the prospect of Donald Trump’s potential return to the US presidency, while pinning its hopes on current Vice President Kamala Harris, who overnight appears to have clinched enough delegates to win her party’s nomination. Harris has previously argued for the importance of US engagement in global affairs, contrasting that with Trump’s isolationism. Another plus for Europe is Harris’ national security adviser Philip Gordon, who has a deep understanding of Europe and its security needs.
