DAVIS, Calif. — Former UC Davis women’s water polo standouts – Sophia Noble, Ally Clague, and Alyssa Lengtat have inked deals with these prestigious European clubs, marking a significant milestone in their careers. Lille Métropole Water Polo (France) Real Canoe N.C. (Spain) and Waterpolo Club Natació Rubí (Spain) have secured some exceptional talents for the upcoming water polo season.
Sophia Noble, a four-year starter at the goalkeeper position and UC Davis’ all-time saves leader, has signed with Lille Métropole Water Polo in France. After an impressive season with CN Echeyde in Spain’s División de Honor, where she received the MVP del Partido (MVP of the Match) two times during the season. Noble will look to hone her skills even further after receiving an invitation to train with the Portuguese national team. Lille, the top team in the country, boasts a rich history and a passionate fan base and her towering presence in goal promises to elevate Lille’s performance as they aim for championship glory.
Ally Clague finished her collegiate career at UC Davis with All-American honors and will embark on her professional journey with Real Canoe N.C. in Madrid. Clague’s water polo IQ and tactical brilliance make her a valuable addition to the Spanish club. Her recent completion of a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at UC Davis underscores her commitment to excellence both in and out of the pool. Real Canoe N.C., steeped in tradition, welcomes Clague as a key player in their quest for titles.
Alyssa Lengtat just recently signed with Waterpolo Club Natació Rubí in Barcelona. The Davis native was outstanding in her final season with the Aggies scoring 33 goals and handing out 27 assists while serving as the captain of the squad. She started every single game and made a massive impact on the defensive end, leading the team with 43 steals. Lengtat will bring her impressive sprinting ability to Barcelona, winning 45 of her 61 sprint chances in 2023.
