U.S. News & World Report announced its 2024-2025 Best Hospitals rankings Tuesday.
Last year, the report stopped ranking hospitals by excellence and instead featured a national Honor Roll with the best hospitals named in alphabetical order (Mayo Clinic sat atop the list for 7 years in a row before the change). This year’s list includes 466 regional hospitals, among which 20 “with exceptional breadth and depth of excellence” were named in the Honor Roll, according to a press release.
Additionally, the Best Hospitals rankings include the best regional hospitals with equitable access for the first time, with 98 hospitals highlighted “for their success in caring for patients from historically underserved communities,” according to the release.
“Choosing the right hospital to match your needs shouldn’t be a guessing game,” Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News, said in the release. “The 2024-2025 edition of Best Hospitals provides patients and their families clear, data-driven insights on hospital performance and empowers Americans to choose the facility best suited to their specific health care needs.”
This year’s rankings also include multiple new data refinements, such as data on care provided to outpatients and patients with Medicare Advantage insurance, which almost doubles the number of patients included in the analysis, according to U.S. News & World Report.
