Colin Jost Reveals Why He Fell in Love with Scarlett Johansson

Colin Jost regularly finds himself blushing while reading jokes about his wife, Scarlett Johansson, during his “Weekend Update” co-hosting gig with Michael Che on Saturday Night Live—but rarely does he voluntarily speak out about their relationship.

Now, for a new profile on Johansson published by The New York Times, Jost gave some rare and loving insight into life with the actor as a family of four.

“I think part of the reason I fell in love with her is she’s a great mom,” Jost told the outlet of his now-wife.

Jost and Johansson met in 2010 when ScarJo made a guest appearance on SNL and acted out one of Jost’s sketches. They began dating years later, in 2017 (after the actor hosted SNL for a fifth time and returned for a cameo on the show’s season finale), became engaged in May 2019, and married in October 2020. The two now share one child, son Cosmo, 2, and co-parent the Fly Me to the Moon star’s daughter, Rose, 9, whom she shares with her French journalist ex-husband, Romain Dauriac (whom she was with from 2013 to 2017).

“I’ve known Rose, my stepdaughter, since she was 2. It’s weird. You get to actually preview someone as a mom,” Jost said of Johansson.

Johansson was also previously married to fellow actor Ryan Reynolds, from 2008 to 2011. Jost was never previously married, and Cosmo is his only child.

“We laugh a lot, and we communicate with one another and check in,” Johansson said in a recent interview on CBS Mornings about why her and Jost’s marriage works.
