Surprising Fact
Many of last year’s biggest winners aren’t eligible for nominations this year. “Succession” and “Beef,” which swept the drama and limited series categories, last year, as well as other winners including “The Last Of Us,” “The White Lotus,” “Ted Lasso” and “Better Call Saul” either ended or did not air new seasons in time to be nominated.

Why Are There Two Emmy Awards Ceremonies This Year?
Typically an annual event, the upcoming September ceremony marks the Emmys getting back on their regular schedule—it will air just eight months after the last ceremony aired in January. The previous ceremony was postponed from a planned September 2023 air date because of the Hollywood labor strikes, which lasted from May 2023 to November 2023, delaying production on various film and television projects and preventing actors and writers from promoting or discussing their work. The ceremony’s delay did not change the eligibility dates for television programs competing in either ceremony: nominees for the January ceremony were selected from shows that aired between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023, while nominees for the upcoming September awards are for shows that released between June 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024.
