PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Local small businesses are partnering together all summer long, to raise funds for a Chillicothe veteran-owned organization.
Junction City Pub and Tavern on Prospect, in Junction City, teamed up to raise money for Freedom Paws Service Dogs.
The not for profit organization trains service dogs for veterans or first responders suffering from PTSD.
Junction City Pub’s owner Kathy Zabek said many veterans and first responders in need of a service dog often frequent Junction City.
“We do have some great customers that are really strong believers in this that we’ve gotten to know over the last couple of years. We’ve been open. You know, this is a good thing. And to see the customers that have the dogs is really important and to see them interact in this society and to see how much it impacts their life that they couldn’t get around without them,” said Zabek.
They hold Freedom Paws Sunday Funday every second Sunday of the summer months. The next one will be August 11 at Junction City Pub.
