Owensboro Health’s annual Food+Art+Health returns this Saturday at the Owensboro Regional Farmer’s Market. The collaboration promotes various forms of wellness and includes several activities for those of all ages.
Owensboro Health Director of Community Engagement Debbie Zuerner said OH believes healthy communities thrive where nutritious food is accessible and the arts flourish. To ensure Owensboro continues to be a healthy community, they blend fine arts while providing some medical insight to vendors and customers.
“Bringing our health system and community artistic partners to the Owensboro Regional Farmers’ Market emphasizes the importance of the intersection of the three components in our daily lives,” she said.
This year’s community art project is led by Owensboro Museum Fire Art. The project will have participants paint individual tiles pieced together depicting different aspects of health, wellness, the arts, and the Farmers’ Market. Once completed, it will be displayed in the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital lobby.
The Market will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. with some live music and performances accompanying the businesses, including:
- 8 to 10:30 a.m. – Randy Lanham and Friends
- 10:30 to 10:45 a.m. – Owensboro Dance Theatre
- 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. – Encore Musicals
- 11:15 to 11:30 a.m. – RiverPark Center
- 11:30 a.m. to Noon – Theatre Workshop of Owensboro
While the arts are taking place under the pavilion, Owensboro Health will have the following departments set up throughout the rest of the Market:
- Healthpark
- Prevention Services
- Endocrinology
- Maternity Services
- Accreditation
- Orthopedics
- Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center
“The morning provides an opportunity to gain health knowledge, learn about available resources, artistic expression, access fresh and local products, and encourages everyone to focus on their health in a fun and engaging way,” Zuerner said.
