When it comes to PlayStation exclusives that gamers want to see come to PC, Bloodborne is usually at the top of the list for many. Despite being developed by FromSoftware, the developers behind Dark Souls and Elden Ring, it has yet to see a port to PC and is only available on PlayStation. But, gamers are taking it upon themselves to change that.
ShadPS4, one of the PlayStation 4 emulators currently in development, took to X to reveal that they had managed to get Bloodborne to boot to the title screen, although with a Virtual Boy-esque red and black color scheme. This marks one of the biggest leaps in PS4 emulation so far and is a promising step in the long road to preserving the eighth generation of systems.
Although this is positive news, don’t expect to be playing Bloodborne on your PC anytime soon, unless Sony finally gives FromSoftware the approval to create a PC port of the currently-PS4 exclusive. When it comes to emulating the PS4 version, it will likely be many years before it is possible. The Xenia emulator, an Xbox 360 emulator, began development back in 2013 and only has 18% of the library in a playable state. It would be surprising if Bloodborne is fully playable within the next five years, but at least this is a major step in the right direction.
Currently, ShadPS4 can successfully play 28 different games, with some being fully playable while others can load into the game but suffer from graphical and audio issues. Some of these games include Sonic Mania, We Are Doomed, and The Disney Afternoon Collection.
Bloodborne has long been one of the most highly requested PC ports, with it being one of the few Souls-like titles that isn’t available on PC. This is due to Sony being the publisher of it, which prevents FromSoftware from creating a port without being granted permission by Sony. But, with Sony porting many of its formerly exclusive titles to PC, including the likes of God of War Ragnarok and The Last of Us, a Bloodborne PC port could see the light of day eventually.
