Eli Smart Shares New Single ‘How Come?’ | News

Eli Smart returns with new single ‘How Come?’ – tune in now.

The songwriter has come a long way – literally. Born in Kaua’i (Hawaii), he was raised by a family of musicians, soaking up the likes of Gladys Knight, Jimi Hendrix, Prince and The Beatles from a young age.

Infatuated by the Beatles, he moved to Liverpool at the age of 18 to study music, immersing himself in the city’s music scene. Moving to London last year, he’s never looked back, throwing himself into studio session after studio session.

Debut album ‘No Summer’ is out on September 6th, and it’s a potent, personal document of his rise. New single ‘How Come?’ is out now, and it has a 90s throwback aspect to the production, recalling the ghostly shimmer of Smashing Pumpkins.

Lyrically, it takes you back to high school – a song about self-worth, and attempting to locate.

Eli Smart comments…

I wrote this song when I was in high school. I love it when songs evolve and take on different forms as life goes on. This tune at this point kind of feels like a familiar piece of driftwood that I tossed into the ocean, forgot about, and has now somehow made its way back to me all sanded down and a bit more sun baked.

I feel a similar way too! It’s also always quite ironic when something you wrote when you were younger almost makes more sense in the present, it’s funny to realise what changes and what stays exactly the same.

Tune in now.
