Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the launch of its space accelerator program in India, aiming to support 24 space technology startups.
The 14-week AWS Space Accelerator: India program is designed to offer technical assistance, AWS training, and guidance from industry experts. This initiative follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) AWS signed with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) in 2023 to foster the growth of space startups in India.

“This is the fourth consecutive year that AWS has run a Space Accelerator program, but the first one we’ve tied to one specific country. We specifically chose India for this initiative because of the tremendous growth opportunities in the Indian space sector,” Clint Crosier, Director of the Aerospace and Satellite business at AWS, said.
The selected startups will receive up to $100,000 in AWS credits and support to develop and scale their solutions. The accelerator, supported by T-Hub and Minfy, aims to empower these startups by providing resources and expertise in areas such as Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, and data analytics. Additionally, the program will cover go-to-market strategies, fundraising, and business fundamentals.
AWS evaluated startups based on their innovative solutions, product-market fit, sustainability, creative use of AWS technology, and team capabilities. The 2024 cohort will explore leveraging space data, building secure solutions, and navigating the competitive space tech landscape.
The AWS Space Accelerator: India promises to be a transformative journey for these startups, providing them with the necessary tools, knowledge, and network to succeed in the dynamic space technology sector.
