New Los Angeles Anime Cafe Promises ‘Cut-Throat’ Akiba Maid War Experience

HIDIVE’s popular maid action comedy anime series, Akiba Maid War, is heating up again this summer with an exciting pop-up café collaboration in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. The grand opening is set to take place on June 28, 2024, with the café open to the public until the end of July.

Via a press release, Little Akihabara, in collaboration with Akiba Maid War producers Cygames and licensor Sentai Filmworks, is opening a brand-new maid café in Little Tokyo “like you’ve never seen before.” The Akiba Maid War Pop-Up Café, inspired by the anime’s Ton Tokoton or Pig House, will open at 319 E. 2nd St. #122 Los Angeles, CA, 90012 on June 28, 2024, through July 28 (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays except July 8), and is available from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. “Come enjoy an authentic maid café in the heart of Little Tokyo with an immersive setting that brings the ‘Ton Tokoton’ Café to life!” the experience is teased. “Witness the darker side behind all the cute frills and lace as you learn firsthand just how cutthroat the Maid Cafés of Akihabara can truly be!” Fans can purchase tickets for the special pre-grand opening event on June 27, with general ticketing also available here.

Akiba Maid War’s New LA Café Will Give Fans the Full Anime Experience

The café seats 52 (13 tables with four chairs each). Café-goers can expect a maid-themed menu like Porker’s Omurice (Ham Omurice) with drawing services, as well as similarly themed drinks. The ‘Oinky Doink Live Porkformance’ will be held daily from 12-1:30 p.m., 2-3.30 p.m., 6-7:30 p.m. and 8-9.30 p.m. These are reservation-only, earning fans a special performance, a full meal set, photo experiences of different tiers with the maids and more. Attendees outside these times will be allowed in on a first-come, first-served basis but can also purchase personal performances. The event is rated PG-13, with some of the contents of the maid café alluding to violent imagery.

Little Akihabara was established by Anime Jungle, which has been active in Little Tokyo, LA, for over 21 years. The company was set up to provide a bridge for Japanese businesses and content providers to establish a base in America while leveraging Akihabara’s global appeal commonly seen in anime. Its past events include Akiba Open Mic Karaoke and Anison & Idol, All Day! <Day Stage >, inviting SoCal idols for exciting performances.
